The Humanisation Methodology

AI copy can be correct without being good.

My Humanisation Methodology finds the patterns that make AI-generated copy feel generated, then gives me a structured way to fix them — so the fix isn’t guesswork.

Built from a copywriter’s perspective

AI copy can be grammatically perfect. Clear, polished, technically accurate. And still feel wrong.

It might use a phrase nobody would actually say. Follow the same sentence pattern five times. Explain something that didn’t need explaining. Or simply have no sense that an actual person wrote it.

That’s the gap I look for.

I’m a highly experienced copywriter with two decades of commercial writing behind me — and I’ve worked as an AI tutor with three of the world’s largest AI companies. That combination is rare: deep craft on one side, and a practical understanding of how these models generate language on the other.

I developed the methodology from years of writing, editing and reviewing copy — and from seeing the same machine habits show up again and again.

AI doesn’t necessarily produce bad writing. It produces writing with recognisable habits. My job is to spot those habits, decide which ones matter, and rewrite with human judgement.

I score the copy. Then I know where to look.

Six master categories, each broken into the criteria that get scored.

AI-ismsRecognisable words and constructions that appear disproportionately often.
Generic wordingLanguage that could describe almost any company.
Corporate-speakBusiness language that makes simple ideas sound complicated.
ClichésFamiliar expressions that have lost their impact.
Adjective inflationStacks of unnecessary adjectives.
Claim inflationLanguage that oversells the evidence.
Predictable structuresRepeated patterns and constructions.
Forced contrast“It’s not just X. It’s Y.”
RhythmNatural cadence when read aloud.
HedgingUnnecessary may, might, potentially.
Metaphor qualityUseful, original, appropriate?
Forced imageryTrying too hard to sound profound.
PersonalityIdentifiable character?
ConversationalityWould an actual person say this?
Over-polishSmoothed until the personality is gone.
VerbosityDoes every word earn its place?

Every piece gets a Humanisation Scorecard

The score isn’t an AI-detection score. It doesn’t try to work out whether a machine wrote the text.

It measures the characteristics that can make copy feel machine-generated, regardless of where it came from.

A final pass for clarity, personality and naturalness.

The scorecard doesn’t write the copy. I do.

Humanising doesn’t mean making AI copy worse

×I don’t add mistakes to make it look human.
×I don’t randomly change words for the sake of it.
×I don’t replace every AI phrase with slang.
×I don’t force personality where the brand has none.
×I don’t make every sentence shorter.
×I don’t try to make every piece “quirky”.

The objective isn’t less polish. It’s deliberate writing.
